To bring or not to bring, that is the question…
Posted: June 27, 2011 Filed under: EndlessBBQ v2.0 Leave a comment »One of the tweeps tweeted at us a while ago asking if we had a “to bring/not to bring” list for the event. We didn’t have one at the time, but we thought it might be a good idea (thanks, @tim846).
To bring:
- Coolers and ice
- Beverages (there will be some supplied, but more are always welcome)
- Any special food you want or need due to dietary restrictions/allergies
- Folding chairs- we’ll have a lot of chairs, but are expecting a *whole* lot of people, so if you have them, bring them
- Insect repellent- we anticipate the BBQ spilling out into the backyard
- Swimsuit and towel if you plan on swimming
- Business or “tweep” cards to trade with others if you like
- Awesome space swag/stickers to give away
- Tweeting devices (duh)
- Cameras
- Lasers
- Your $5 per person minimum donation if you haven’t donated via PayPal in advance
Not to bring:
- Pets
- Weapons
- Illegal anything, except lasers (kidding)
- A bad attitude- seriously, no whiners
We have Sponsors!
Posted: June 26, 2011 Filed under: EndlessBBQ v2.0, sponsors Leave a comment »Wow- this was unexpected, but it seems that we actually have some sponsors for the #endlessBBQ v2.0! Open Luna has generously offered to sponsor a keg, SpaceVidCast is going to live stream the event with multiple camera views, and Yuri’s Night and the Space Tweep Society will be providing some swag!
If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of the event, please email to jen at endlessbbq dot com. We’ll be sure to promote your organization on our site as well as on Twitter!
Meet the entertainers
Posted: June 25, 2011 Filed under: EndlessBBQ v2.0 Leave a comment »Those of you attending #endlessBBQ v2.0 are in for a real treat. Live music will be played by our own fabulous space tweep @CraftLass! She has been a part of several #NASAtweetups, including the STS-133 Launch tweetup. If you haven’t checked out her music yet, you will want to. She writes songs that space geeks can relate to, like Bake Sale for NASA, and Above the Sky. She performed at the Space Coast Yuri’s Night celebration in 2010 at the Astronaut Hall of Fame, and we are excited to have her back on the Space Coast performing at the #endlessBBQ!
Also contributing to the auditory ambiance of the event will be our DJ, @The RealDJFlux. Flux is a long time space tweep, #NASATweetup STS-133 alumnus, and all-around awesome guy. In fact, he gave a great demonstration to a group of space tweeps at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex after the launch of STS-133 on DJing. I never realized how much math went into it! Of course I never lived in places where we had good DJs like Flux, so maybe that is why. Flux is one of the founders of a cool company called MIC or Music Integrated Clothing, which features sweet designs such a this hoodie that appeals to both space and music fans.

Update: We are pleased to announce that we will also have Emory Stagmer, or @VAXHeadroom at the event performing. Emory is the Lead Flight Software Engineer for projects such as NASA’s LCROSS. In addition, he is the Executive Producer and Head Engineer of Untied Music, and a talented musician himself. Emory has been involved with many tweetups and other space related events such as @SpaceUpDC and @YurisNight. He is pleased to have been selected as a participant for the STS-135 Launch @NASATweetup!
With entertainment like this- you’d be crazy to miss the #endlessBBQ v2.0!
Meet the host

He hosted the first night of the original Endless, plus numerous other Space Tweep shindigs, and was a co-planner (or is that co-conspirator?) of the Space Coast Yuri’s Night Pub Crawl 2011. He is one of the original space tweeps from when the Space Tweep Society first formed over two years ago. Chris’ parties are always fun and have great food. Sometimes there are semi-dangerous laser displays in the backyard, often there are bonfires, and occasionally there are pirate ship battles or slip n’ slides aimed into the pool. You never know what to expect.
Chris and his cat, @RRavage are opening their home (Decepticon Headquarters) to us once again for another round of #endlessBBQ. Thank you Chris and Ravage, and everyone else who is helping to make this #EndlessBBQ an epic event!
#EndlessBBQ 2.0
Posted: June 23, 2011 Filed under: EndlessBBQ v2.0 Leave a comment »If you didn’t make it to any of the four days of the first #endlessBBQ, you missed out. But now is your chance to make up for it.
The STS-135 Space Tweep #EndlessBBQ v2.0 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 9 starting at 3:30PM. This date is, of course, dependent on the launch of STS-135 Atlantis, tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2011.
There will be food (BBQ ribs, burgers, hot dogs, veggie platters, Jell-O shots & desserts), live music (provided by @CraftLass & @TheRealDJFlux), a hot tub, swimming pool, maybe some Rock Band/Guitar Hero/Kinect and most importantly, great people. All Space Tweeps are invited regardless of if you are a part of the STS-135 NASA Tweetup, NASA Tweetup Alumni or a just a space enthusiast in general. However, this event is limited to space tweeps (people on Twitter) and their guests. This is not a general party for anyone who stumbles upon it. Just bring your own beverages and please carpool due to limited parking. We are asking that you park in the lot as shown in the photo below, and walk the short distance to the party. We are also asking for a $5 donation per person to help cover the costs of feeding everyone.
NOTE: Please realize this was not designed or intended to be a kid-friendly event. That being said, a couple of our most valued tweeps are under 18 and we have no intention of excluding them. We are not saying “no children allowed,” but are leaving it to your discretion and insisting that only well-behaved, well-supervised children will be in attendance. Just be aware, if you bring children, this may not be the most appropriate environment for them (drinking, amuckness) and there is a pool, so they will need to be supervised very closely by you for their safety. In addition, this event will be streamed live over the internet, tweeted, Facebooked, Flickrd, YouTubed, and so on. By bringing minors, you signify your willingness for them to appear in tweets, status updates, photos, videos, streams, and any other media that is generated at the #endlessBBQ.
The original #EndlessBBQ
Posted: June 10, 2011 Filed under: EndlessBBQ v1.0 Leave a comment »The original #EndlessBBQ was amazing, and went on in various places for four days. We had space tweeps in attendance from all over the world. Of course the most fun part of it was the first night, and @harbingeralpha captured some of that here beautifully:
EndlessBBQ?
Posted: June 9, 2011 Filed under: EndlessBBQ v1.0, EndlessBBQ v2.0 Leave a comment »#EndlessBBQ is a new tradition for Space Tweeps who come to Florida for a rocket launch. The first one was held in conjunction with launch attempt 1 for STS-134, which was scrubbed. The second one is planned for the day after the final Shuttle launch, STS-135. What then, you ask? Well, we’ve got the @NASAJuno launch coming in August, then GRAIL in September. NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory is due to launch late in 2011 and there are upcoming SpaceX launches as well. Lots of opportunities for more installments of #endlessBBQ!
